Teachings of Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas Have Guided Humanity for Centuries: CM Nayab Singh Saini

Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said the teachings of Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas Ji have been guiding humanity for centuries. Installing his statue is a resolve to imbibe his thoughts, values and the path shown by him in our hearts. Sant Ravidas Ji envisioned ‘Begampura’ as a city where there was no place for sorrow, injustice or discrimination. The state government is working with the same spirit of social harmony and upliftment of the poorest. By fostering the spirit of service to humanity, upliftment of the underprivileged and social harmony in our lives, we can pay true tribute to Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas Ji.

The Chief Minister said this while addressing the statue installation ceremony of Sant Shiromani Sri Guru Ravidas Ji Maharaj at Jadaula village in Kaithal district on Thursday. Union Minister for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal and former Rajya Sabha MP and programme coordinator Ishwar Singh were also present on the occasion. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced a grant of ₹31 lakh for the Sant Guru Ravidas Welfare Committee. Former MP Ishwar Singh requested that the biography of Sant Guru Ravidas Ji be included in the school curriculum. The Chief Minister directed the concerned department officials to take necessary action in this regard.

The Chief Minister said that saints and great spiritual personalities have always shown society the path of truth, service, harmony and brotherhood. The teachings of Sant Guru Ravidas Ji, who is revered as the foremost among saints, continue to inspire society. We should follow his teachings and strengthen mutual love, harmony and social cohesion. He extended his greetings to all devotees present on the sacred occasion and paid homage to the saints and great personalities, saying that such events serve as a means of carrying forward our rich spiritual and cultural traditions.

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said that in accordance with the ideals of Guru Ravidas Ji, ensuring that the benefits of government schemes reach the last person and promoting the welfare of society are among the priorities of his government. He said that to take the teachings of Guru Ravidas Ji to the masses and promote the spirit of social harmony, a grand Guru Ravidas Dham is being constructed over approximately 5 acres of land at Umri in Kurukshetra at a cost of ₹124 crore.

Nayab Singh Saini said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the ‘Samrasta Sankalp Abhiyan’ across the country to mark the 650th birth anniversary of Sant Guru Ravidas Ji. As part of the campaign, a sacred Kalash Yatra is being taken out. The yatra, carrying the soil from the birthplace of Guru Ravidas Ji in Kashi, commenced on July 29 and will also travel across Haryana, taking the message of social awareness, national unity and human dignity from Guru Ravidas Ji’s birthplace to villages and households across the state.

The Chief Minister said that the Haryana Government is working equally for the development and upliftment of all sections of society in accordance with the teachings of Guru Ravidas Ji. To provide talented youth an opportunity to enter government service, the government has adopted a transparent recruitment policy, under which more than 2 lakh youth have been provided government jobs on the basis of merit over the last 12 years. He said that the Haryana State Commission for Scheduled Castes has also been constituted for the protection of the rights of the Scheduled Caste community.

He said that the Ayushman Bharat and Chirayu schemes are providing free healthcare to poor families. Under these schemes, more than 34 lakh patients have received cashless treatment worth ₹4,226 crore. Free dialysis facilities are being provided to kidney patients at all government hospitals and medical colleges, which has proved to be a major support for poor families.

Nayab Singh Saini said that under the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Awas Navinikaran Yojana, financial assistance of ₹80,000 is being provided for house repairs. So far, ₹416 crore has been distributed to 85,815 families under the scheme. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, the dream of owning a house has been fulfilled for 1.56 lakh families, while under the Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana, plots have been allotted to 32,000 poor families in urban and rural areas. Similarly, under the Mukhyamantri Vivah Shagun Yojana, financial assistance of up to ₹71,000 is provided for the marriage of daughters. So far, ₹1,523 crore has been provided to 3.85 lakh daughters under the scheme.

Nayab Singh Saini said that through the ‘Deen Dayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana’, ₹2,100 per month is being transferred to the accounts of mothers, sisters and daughters. So far, more than 10 lakh beneficiaries have received ₹2,042 crore under the scheme. He also elaborated on the financial assistance and fee support being provided to students through the Ambedkar Meritorious Scholarship, Post-Matric and Pre-Matric Scholarship schemes.

The Chief Minister appealed to those present to take the thoughts and teachings of saints and great personalities to every section of society and strengthen the spirit of brotherhood and harmony. He said that a united and aware society is the foundation for building a strong Haryana. The Chief Minister congratulated the organisers and residents of the area for organising the religious and social event and wished the people of the state happiness, prosperity and well-being.

Sant Guru Ravidas Ji Gave the Message of Welfare of Humanity: Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal

Union Minister of State for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal said that Sant Guru Ravidas Ji gave society the message of equality, brotherhood and human welfare. His thoughts continue to provide direction to society even today. The spirit of liberty, equality and fraternity enshrined in the Indian Constitution has been inspired by Indian philosophy and the tradition of saints.

Meghwal said that Sant Ravidas Ji envisioned a society where everyone had access to food and there was no distinction between the rich and the poor or between the high and the low. This spirit of equality and brotherhood has remained an integral part of the basic consciousness of Indian society. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is ensuring the provision of foodgrains to the poor through the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana. The state government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, is also implementing welfare-oriented schemes effectively. The Union Minister also sang a few lines from the devotional composition ‘Aap Chandan Hum Paani’ by Guru Ravidas Ji.
