Chandigarh: Haryana Governor Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh said that the State Government celebrates Sant Kabir Jayanti at the state level to ensure that people, especially the younger generation, understand, appreciate and imbibe the timeless teachings of the great saint. He said that Sant Kabir’s message is as relevant today as it was during his lifetime and will continue to guide humanity in the future.

The Governor was addressing the gathering at the Prakash Utsav of Sant Kabir, organized by the Sadguru Kabir Mahasabha in Chandigarh today.

Calling upon people to translate Sant Kabir’s teachings into action, the Governor urged everyone to resolve to follow the path of truth, serve humanity, promote education and moral values, protect the environment, respect women, build a drug-free society, strengthen social harmony, and contribute wholeheartedly to the unity, integrity and progress of the nation.

Describing the gathering as a Mahakumbh of Sant Kabir’s devotees and admirers, Prof. Ghosh said that although Sant Kabir never received formal education from any university, he possessed extraordinary wisdom rooted in life experience, spiritual realization and profound insight. He believed that true knowledge is not gained merely through books but through love, self-realization and righteous conduct.

The Governor said that Sant Kabir envisioned a society where an individual’s identity is defined not by caste, creed, region or social status, but by character, virtues and humanity. He fearlessly challenged social evils, religious dogmas and discrimination while advocating equality, social harmony and human dignity. It was this universal outlook, he said, that earned Sant Kabir reverence across the country and made his teachings timeless.

Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh said that Sant Kabir’s teachings will continue to inspire efforts towards the welfare of the poor, the promotion of social justice and the reduction of social inequalities. He emphasized that it is the collective responsibility of every citizen to uphold these ideals and contribute towards building a society founded on compassion, equality, mutual respect and human dignity.

Among those present on the occasion were First Lady of Haryana Smt. Mitra Ghosh, Mayor of Chandigarh Shri Saurabh Joshi, Shri Sanjay Tandon, former Haryana Minister Shri Anoop Dhanak, Haryana State Information Commissioner Shri Amarjit Singh Solanki, President of Sadguru Kabir Mahasabha Shri Surjit Singh Pardhan, BJP Chandigarh President Shri Jatinder Pal Malhotra, and several distinguished members of the Sadguru Kabir Mahasabha.
