Chandigarh: Haryana Minister of State for Sports and Youth Empowerment, Gaurav Gautam participated in the Palwal Cyclothon organised on the occasion of National Sports Day and the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand. Organised by the District Administration and Sports Department, Palwal, the cyclothon was held under the theme ‘Khelega Bharat, Jeetega Bharat’. It commenced from the Community Centre, HUDA Sector-2, and concluded at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Stadium.
The Minister joined players, youth and citizens in the cycle rally and encouraged them to make sports and physical fitness an integral part of their lives. Addressing the participants, Gaurav Gautam said that sports are not merely about winning medals, but also inculcate discipline, self-confidence, leadership qualities and team spirit. He said that healthy and fit youth have an important role to play in building a strong society and an empowered nation.
The Minister also participated in the cyclothon by cycling alongside the participants and encouraged the players and youth. The event witnessed participation from players, youth, sports enthusiasts and citizens.
