Chandigarh: Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi envisions a system in which farmers receive their crop insurance policies directly and transparently. The ‘Meri Policy Mere Haath’ campaign has been launched with this objective. The Central and State Governments have launched a month-long special drive across India from October 15 to November 15, under which every eligible farmer will receive a copy of their crop insurance policy. The initiative aims to ensure that farmers are aware of their crop insurance coverage, premium amount and the procedure for obtaining claims.
The Cabinet Minister was addressing a state-level function organised by the Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) as part of the ‘Meri Policy Mere Haath’ campaign at Shahabad in Kurukshetra district on Thursday. He attended the programme as the chief guest and distributed crop insurance policies to farmers.
Addressing the gathering after distributing the policies, Sh. Shaym Singh Rana said that the Central and State Governments are implementing various welfare schemes to provide security to farmers. He also explained the ‘Meri Fasal Mera Byora’ portal in detail and urged every farmer to register on it to ensure that benefits under government schemes are transferred directly to their bank accounts.
The Cabinet Minister expressed satisfaction that not a single incident of stubble burning had been reported in Kurukshetra district so far, describing it as a reflection of growing awareness among farmers.
