Chandigarh: Haryana Cooperation, Jails, Elections, Heritage and Tourism Minister, Dr. Arvind Sharma, said that cleanliness is not merely a campaign but a collective responsibility of every citizen. Ahead of the historic launch of India’s first hydrogen-powered train, the Minister led a special cleanliness drive as part of the ‘Swachhata Se Swagat’ campaign organised at Gohana Railway Junction on Thursday. Accompanied by his wife, Dr. Rita Sharma, and party workers, he personally participated in voluntary service to clean the railway premises, sending a strong message about the importance of cleanliness.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sharma said that welcoming guests with warmth and respect has always been a cherished tradition in Indian culture. Similarly, when India’s first hydrogen-powered train arrives at Gohana Railway Station on July 17, it will not simply mark the arrival of a train—it will be a golden moment in the history of modern India. It is with this spirit that we have undertaken this special cleanliness campaign at the railway station, he added.

The Minister said that under the leadership of the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, India is setting new benchmarks in green energy and advanced technology. The launch of the country’s first hydrogen-powered train reflects this forward-looking vision. He said the project will give Gohana not only national recognition but also a place on the global map, establishing the city as a symbol of modern and sustainable transportation.

Dr. Sharma further said that Prime Minister, Narendra Modi will flag off India’s first eco-friendly hydrogen-powered train from Jind on July 17. A large Eco-Friendly Rally will also be organised in Jind to mark the historic occasion, with participation expected from people across the region. He said there is tremendous enthusiasm among the public for this indigenous, pollution-free, and environmentally friendly train, and people are eager to witness this landmark event.

Appealing to the public, Dr. Sharma urged citizens to make cleanliness a part of their daily lifestyle rather than treating it as a one-time campaign. He emphasised that a clean environment is the foundation of a healthy society and a developed nation.
