Chandigarh: In a move to guarantee that cotton farmers in Haryana receive the full Minimum Support Price (MSP) for their produce, the state government has introduced a new mobile application titled Kapas Kisan.
The app, developed by the Cotton Corporation of India Limited (CCI), a Government of India enterprise, is designed to streamline the sale of cotton under the MSP scheme for the 2025–26 season. Available for download on both the Google Play Store and Apple iOS, the app enables farmers to easily verify and sell their cotton produce.
An official spokesperson said the Kapas Kisan app will allow farmers to log in using the OTP sent to their mobile number registered on the Meri Fasal Mera Byora (MFMB) portal. Once logged in, they can verify their land and crop details with the MFMB-verified records. After verification, farmers can book a slot at the nearest CCI purchase center to sell their cotton and avail themselves of MSP benefits.
The spokesperson also advised farmers to bring properly dried cotton with a moisture content of no more than 12 percent to ensure they receive the full MSP. The CCI has assured that it will procure only cotton meeting the Fair Average Quality (FAQ) standards at the declared MSP rates.
The initiative aims to ensure transparency, efficiency, and fair pricing for Haryana’s cotton growers, while reducing middlemen intervention and promoting digital ease of doing business in agriculture.
