Chandigarh: Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Shyam Singh Rana, said the State Government, through the Horticulture Department, is providing quality seeds of various improved and disease-resistant potato varieties to farmers to increase their income and make them economically self-reliant.
He said that the Potato Technology Centre at Shamgarh in Karnal is providing Early Generation Seed and minitubers of high-yielding varieties such as Kufri Pukhraj, Kufri Mohan, Kufri Khyati, Kufri Chipsona and Kufri Frysona to farmers through a transparent system.
The Cabinet Minister said that farmers can conveniently book these seeds online from their homes through the Horticulture Department’s official portal. Using these certified, virus-free seeds will not only significantly increase potato yield per acre but also help farmers secure a premium price for their produce in the market due to improved crop quality, directly increasing their net income.
Under the Early Generation Seed (Year-1) category, 1 quintal of undersize seed of Kufri Chipsona-1; 2.5 quintals of seed-size and 20.5 quintals of oversize seed of Kufri Khyati; and 0.5 quintal of oversize seed of Kufri Uday are available for farmers.
