Chandigarh: Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated with solemnity and traditional fervor at Haryana Lok Bhavan, here today. On this occasion, Haryana Governor Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh, accompanied by First Lady of Haryana, Mitra Ghosh, paid floral tributes to Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversaries, observed on October 2.
On the occasion, an all-religion prayer meeting was organised at Lok Bhavan, during which Ram Dhun was recited and devotional hymns associated with Mahatma Gandhi were rendered. Religious preachers representing Hindu, Muslim, Christian and Sikh faiths participated in the prayer meeting and, through their discourses and hymns, highlighted the values of peace, communal harmony, unity and integrity of the nation.
