Haryana Government Invests Nearly ₹927 Crore in Cutting-Edge Wastewater Treatment Plants

Chandigarh : In a significant step towards strengthening environmental infrastructure and promoting sustainable industrial growth, the Haryana Government will begin construction of three Common Effluent Treatment Plants (CETPs) in Faridabad. The projects aim to ensure scientific treatment of industrial wastewater and improve ecological standards in rapidly developing industrial sectors.

The three CETPs proposed include a 15 MLD plant at Village Badshahpur, a 50 MLD plant at Village Pratapgarh, and a 25 MLD plant at Village Mirzapur. The Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) has completed and submitted the Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for all three projects, with a total estimated cost of ₹926.96 crore.

The matter regarding financial provisions of the projects was reviewed in a meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi here today. During the meeting, a comprehensive cost-sharing mechanism was finalized to ensure smooth implementation of the projects.It was decided that the capital expenditure (Capex) would be borne jointly, with 50 per cent contributed by the Town and Country Planning (TCP) Department, while 25 per cent each would be shared by HSIIDC and the Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP).

Regarding operational expenditure (Opex), HSIIDC will initially bear the operational costs. The expenditure will subsequently be reimbursed annually in equal proportions, with 25 per cent each contributed by the Municipal Corporation Faridabad (MCF), Faridabad Metropolitan Development Authority (FMDA), HSIIDC and HSVP.

The 25 MLD CETP at Mirzapur will treat effluents generated from industries located in Sectors 4, 5, 6, 71 and 74. Similarly, the 50 MLD CETP at Pratapgarh will cater to industrial units operating in Sectors 24, 25, 52A, 56 to 59, 147, 148, 150 to 153 and 155. The 15 MLD CETP at Badshahpur will serve industries situated in Sectors 27 A to D, 31, 32, 35, 36, 38 and 45.

Dr. Amit Kumar Agrawal, Commissioner & Secretary, Industries & Commerce Department, Dr. Saket Kumar, APS to CM & Commissioner & Secretary, Urban Local Bodies, Sh.Ashok Kumar Meena, Director General, Urban Local Bodies, Sh Chander Shekhar Khare, Chief Administrator, Haryana Shaheri Vikas Pradhikaran, Panchkula, Dr. Aditya Dahiya, Managing Director, Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation and Sh Amit Khatri, Director, Town & Country Planning, Haryana were also present in the meeting.
