CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has announced the formation of the Punjab Trade Commission to simplify business operations and strengthen the state’s trading community. Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said the initiative aims to make governance more accessible for small traders, shopkeepers and entrepreneurs by reducing bureaucratic hurdles and improving service delivery. He stated that the commission will ensure traders no longer have to visit multiple offices for routine approvals and business-related work.
Cheema said the Punjab Trade Commission will serve as a dedicated platform to save traders’ time, effort and money by providing faster and smoother resolution of their issues through a structured, accountable and time-bound system. As part of the groundwork, review meetings were held across several districts to discuss the operational roadmap and coordination with local traders and business owners to ensure effective implementation.
The minister emphasized that traders and small businesses are the backbone of the state’s economy and reiterated the government’s commitment to transparency and ease of doing business. He added that the commission will offer single-window support, guidance and quick solutions, enabling honest businesses to focus on growth without facing unnecessary delays or harassment.
