Shimla: Governor Kavinder Gupta today inaugurated the newly constructed Main Darbar Sahib at Shri Sarv Dharma Peeth Taposthan, Gurdwara Shri Nanak Jyot Sahib, Fatehpur, in Kangra district.

The Governor congratulated those involved in developing the sacred site. He described the Sarv Dharma Peeth as a symbol of India’s spiritual heritage, inclusiveness and communal harmony. He said the institution promotes mutual respect and unity among people of all faiths.

Speaking about the site’s historical significance, Shri Gupta said that Guru Nanak Dev was believed to have stayed there during his third Udasi. The ancient religious artifacts found in the area, along-with the presence of an old Nagni Mata temple and a sacred banyan tree, indicate that it had long been a place of worship and meditation.

Paying tribute to Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the Governor said his message of equality, compassion, truth and selfless service continues to guide humanity. He also appreciated the efforts of Chief Sevadar Sant Baba Shri Lavpreet Ji Maharaj in developing the site as a centre that reflects India’s traditions of coexistence and spiritual harmony.

The Governor said the presence of Shri Guru Granth Sahib, a temple dedicated to the divine mother and the eternal sacred flame (Akhanda Jyot) within the same complex reflects the spirit of unity and openness, where people from all backgrounds were welcomed without discrimination.

On the occasion of the Shaheedi Divas of Guru Arjan Dev, Shri Gupta paid homage to the fifth Sikh Guru, remembering his sacrifice, courage and commitment to truth, justice and humanity.

Expressing concern over the growing problem of drug abuse, particularly among young people, the Governor urged youth to engage in Seva (service) and community activities that provide positive guidance and help keep them away from harmful influences. He stressed that tackling drug addiction requires the combined efforts of families, educational institutions, religious organizations, communities and government. He said that only through united efforts can we build a drug-free village, a drug-free Himachal Pradesh and ultimately a drug-free India.

Shri Gupta expressed confidence that the newly inaugurated Darbar Sahib would serve as a centre for spiritual growth, social harmony and community service, while inspiring future generations to uphold the values of humanity and selfless service.

Former Minister Dr. Rajan Sushant, former MLA of Jammu Ashwani Kumar Sharma, religious leaders and a large number of devotees were present on the occasion.
