Chandigarh: Aam Aadmi Party Punjab State Media In-charge Baltej Pannu on Monday asserted that Punjab is completely safe and law and order is firmly under control. He warned that anyone taking the law into their own hands will face strict action without exception. Addressing a press conference at the party office, Pannu reiterated Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s zero-tolerance policy, stating that anyone involved in firing or violence “will not be dealt with softly and will be answered in the same language.”

Citing high-profile cases, Pannu said Punjab Police tracked CCTV footage over nearly 110 kilometres and coordinated with Chhattisgarh Police to arrest the shooters in the sarpanch murder case. He also mentioned the arrest of two gangsters from Ludhiana’s Haibowal area after an encounter and the capture of shooters involved in the Mohali firing case from Kolkata, West Bengal. He emphasized that criminals cannot commit crimes in Punjab and hide in other states, as the police are fully prepared to pursue and apprehend them anywhere in the country.

Pannu highlighted that the Anti-Gangster Task Force has been instrumental in these arrests and that Punjab Police today is equipped with modern vehicles, advanced surveillance systems, and the latest technology. He warned those attempting to disturb peace in the sensitive border state that such efforts will fail. Drawing a parallel with the government’s ongoing campaign against drugs, Pannu said the fight against gangsters is systematic and relentless. He firmly stated that unlike previous governments, the Mann administration does not patronize criminals, and no individual—regardless of influence or family background—will be above the law.
