Economic development must be balanced with cultural values: Governor

Shimla: Governor Kavinder Gupta today said that along with economic progress, it is equally important to preserve cultural values in today’s rapidly changing world. He encouraged young people to use modern technology, artificial intelligence, innovation and startup ideas not only to find jobs but also to create employment opportunities for others.

He was addressing the Yuva Sangam programme organised under the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative at the Central University of Himachal Pradesh in Dharamshala. Students from NIT Puducherry were also present as part of the national integration programme.

The Governor said that Yuva Sangam is an important platform for promoting national unity, cultural harmony and youth empowerment. He said that India’s diversity is its greatest strength and such programmes help young people understand and respect the cultures, traditions and values of different regions of the country.

He appreciated the Central University of Himachal Pradesh for successfully organizing the event and said that the initiative provides students with an opportunity to experience the true spirit of India. He said that our languages, food habits, dress and traditions may be different, but the soul of India is one and He urged the students to work and come forward to protect the spirit and true identity of the country.

Kavinder Gupta also spoke about the rich cultural heritage of Himachal Pradesh and encouraged visiting students to interact with local people and learn more about the state’s traditions and social life.

Highlighting the importance of youth, the Governor said that India has the world’s largest young population and their energy, creativity and ideas will shape the nation’s future. He urged students to look beyond academic success and actively contribute towards nation-building and social development.

On the occasion, the Governor felicitated the delegation from NIT Puducherry. Students from both institutions also presented cultural performances representing the unity and diversity of India.

Chancellor, Central University, Dharamshala Prof. Harmohinder Singh Bedi, Vice Chancellor Prof. Sat Prakash Bansal, Dr. Gaurishankar from NIT Puducherry, faculty members, students and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
