Shimla: Himachal Pradesh is scripting a new chapter in tourism-led development with a special focus on sustainable growth, innovation and community participation. By harnessing the state’s unparalleled natural beauty and promoting eco-friendly tourism infrastructure, the government is also creating new opportunities for employment, self-employment, investment and economic prosperity.

One of the most exciting projects supporting Himachal Pradesh’s tourism vision is the eco-adventure Zipline at Naddi in Dharamshala. Surrounded by the majestic Dhauladhar range, Naddi is already a popular destination known for its peaceful atmosphere and stunning Himalayan views. The new zipline adds an adventure element, making the area even more attractive to visitors.

Developed with an investment of Rs. 7.41 crore under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, the project is a major addition to the state’s tourism infrastructure. Stretching approximately 4.3 kilometres, the zipline begins at the revered Gallu Devi temple and passes over some of the most scenic landscapes of the Dharamshala region, including Bal Village, Naddi and Maggie Point Khud. The visitors will enjoy breathtaking views of forests, valleys and the Himalayas while experiencing a unique adventure.

The project is expected to boost the local economy by increasing tourist footfall and creating opportunities for hotels, home stays, transport operators, local food businesses, guides and adventure tourism service providers. It will also generate employment and skill-development opportunities for local youth.

Environmental sustainability remains a key focus of the initiative. The project promotes responsible tourism and low-impact infrastructure, ensuring that development supports economic growth while preserving the region’s natural beauty.

Beyond adventure, the zipline will encourage visitors to explore the cultural and spiritual heritage of the area, offering a richer and more immersive travel experience. For Dharamshala and the wider Kangra region, the project is another step towards strengthening their position as leading tourism destinations and advancing the state government’s vision of developing Kangra as the tourism capital of Himachal Pradesh.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Himachal Pradesh is promoting a development model that combines economic growth, environmental responsibility and community welfare. The eco-adventure Zipline at Naddi reflects this approach by creating new opportunities while preserving the state’s unique natural and cultural heritage.
