Chandigarh/SAS Nagar: During the Progressive Punjab Investors’ Summit 2026 held at Plaksha University, Japan-based industry leaders described Punjab as a premier destination for business and investment. They highlighted that the state’s progressive industrial outlook, strong governance framework and investor-friendly policies are encouraging Japanese companies to expand their presence in the region. The session also emphasised the growing industrial cooperation between India and Japan, particularly in sectors such as manufacturing, infrastructure and mobility.

Speaking at the event, Punjab’s Employment Generation, Skill Development and Training Minister Aman Arora said the state is keen to deepen collaboration with Japanese partners in emerging sectors including integrated EV and automotive manufacturing ecosystems, agri-mechanisation, smart farming technologies and clean energy solutions. He said Punjab offers a strong manufacturing base, skilled workforce and strategic connectivity to key North Indian markets, making it an attractive hub for global partnerships and technology-driven industries.

Officials and industry leaders also highlighted Punjab’s new industrial policy and business-friendly reforms aimed at boosting investment. Administrative Secretary Gurkirat Kirpal Singh said the policy identifies 24 priority sectors and provides faster approvals for industrial projects under the Right to Business Act. Representatives from Japanese organisations and companies, including Japan External Trade Organization, expressed optimism that such initiatives will further strengthen Indo-Japanese industrial cooperation and encourage more Japanese investment in Punjab.
