Mumbai: Bollywood actor Sunny Deol expressed his anger at photographers gathered outside his Mumbai residence on Thursday morning, urging them to respect his family’s privacy.
The actor has been spending most of his time with his father, veteran actor Dharmendra, who was recently discharged from Breach Candy Hospital following a health scare.
Eyewitnesses said Sunny appeared visibly upset as cameras and flashes crowded near the Deol residence. Folding his hands, he reportedly addressed the paparazzi sharply, saying: “Aap logon ko sharam aani chahiye, aapke ghar mein ma-baap hain. Aapke bachche hain, sharam nahi aati?” (You should be ashamed. You have parents and children at home — don’t you have any shame?).
The confrontation highlighted Sunny’s frustration over what he described as intrusive media attention during his father’s recovery. Known for his calm demeanor, the actor seemed deeply emotional, prioritising his family’s need for peace and privacy.
A video of the encounter quickly circulated online, with fans lauding Sunny for defending his family. Many users criticised the paparazzi for their insensitivity, urging them to allow the Deols to focus on Dharmendra’s recuperation.
Dharmendra, 89, is now recuperating at home after several days in hospital. His daughter, Esha Deol, reassured fans on social media that he is stable and recovering, addressing recent rumours. “The media seems to be in overdrive and spreading false news. My father is stable and recovering. We request everyone to give our family privacy,” she wrote.
Sources close to the family revealed that Dharmendra was admitted last month for routine check-ups and remains under observation as he regains his strength. The family has requested fans to keep him in their thoughts and prayers during his recovery period.
