Mumbai: The long-standing legal battle between actress Rakhi Sawant and her former husband Adil Durrani came to an official close on Wednesday, as the Bombay High Court quashed the criminal cases the duo had filed against one another.
A division bench comprising Justice Revati Mohite Dere and Justice Sandesh Patil delivered the ruling after both parties informed the court that they had resolved their issues amicably and no longer wished to pursue the matter legally.
“In light of the mutual understanding reached between the two individuals, it is not necessary to keep the FIR and related proceedings active,” the bench observed. “Accordingly, both the First Information Report and the chargesheet are set aside.”
Marital Conflict Behind Legal Complaints
The court acknowledged that the FIRs originated from personal disputes within the marriage, which the couple solemnized in 2022 under Islamic law. Their separation, announced in early 2023, had triggered a series of accusations from both sides.
Rakhi Sawant had alleged harassment, intimidation, and unnatural acts, while Adil Durrani had countered with claims of defamation, stating that Sawant had allegedly circulated inappropriate videos.
Both Parties Present in Court
Both Sawant and Durrani appeared in person before the bench during the hearing. In a rare show of consensus, they jointly agreed that they had no objection to the court annulling the FIRs and closing the chapter legally.
The bench appreciated the decision of both parties to settle the matter peacefully and move on with their lives without further litigation.
Background and Closure
The high-profile couple’s tumultuous relationship had drawn considerable media attention since their marriage in 2022. The criminal complaints followed soon after their public fallout in February 2023.
With Wednesday’s decision, all pending legal matters between the two have now been officially closed, bringing an end to the public feud.
