Leh (Ladakh): Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta on Friday announced that filmmaker Aditya Dhar’s blockbuster Dhurandhar will be tax-free in the Union Territory, citing the film’s extensive shooting across the region and its role in showcasing Ladakh’s breathtaking landscapes.

The Lieutenant Governor said the Ladakh Administration is in the process of framing a new film policy and assured full support to filmmakers choosing the region as a shooting destination. In a post on X, the Office of the Lt Governor said the decision reflects Ladakh’s push to position itself as a preferred hub for film production and tourism.

“Shot extensively in the region, the film highlights Ladakh’s cinematic beauty and signals strong institutional support for filmmakers,” the post read, adding that the upcoming film policy will further encourage productions in the UT.

The announcement comes as Dhurandhar continues its extraordinary run at the box office. The film has scripted history by becoming the first Hindi film ever to cross the ₹100 crore mark in its fourth week of release. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh described the feat as unprecedented, noting that the film shows no signs of slowing down even a month after its release.

In its fourth week alone, Dhurandhar collected a staggering ₹115.70 crore, making it the highest fourth-week grosser in the history of Hindi cinema. In comparison, Pushpa 2 (Hindi) earned ₹57.95 crore in the same period, while Chhaava and Stree 2 collected ₹43.98 crore and ₹37.75 crore respectively.

Adding to its list of milestones, Dhurandhar has also become the only Hindi film to post double-digit collections for 28 consecutive days, underlining its exceptional hold at the box office well beyond the opening weeks.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar has emerged as one of the biggest Hindi films of 2025, rounding off the year on a high note for Bollywood. The film stars Ranveer Singh in the lead role, with Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal and R Madhavan playing pivotal characters.

Made in two parts, the first instalment traces a decade-long Indian intelligence operation, focusing on an undercover agent who infiltrates Karachi’s criminal and political underworld. Released on December 5, the film continues to draw strong audiences in theatres across the country.
