New Delhi: A 25-year-old garment vendor was stabbed to death and another man injured after a dispute over a damaged car side mirror escalated into violence, allegedly fuelled by old enmity between two groups, police said on Friday.

The incident took place in the Gautampuri area of south Delhi late Thursday night. Police said they received a PCR call at the Badarpur police station around 10 pm reporting a stabbing. A police team rushed to the spot and found a large crowd gathered, with visible bloodstains at the scene.

Initial inquiries and eyewitness accounts suggested that the confrontation began after the side mirror of a car was broken. What started as an argument soon turned violent due to longstanding rivalry between the groups involved, a senior police officer said.

The crime scene was secured and a forensic team was called in to collect evidence. The victims were identified as Arun, a 25-year-old garment vendor, and Shivam, also 25, who works as a housekeeping staff member at AIIMS. Both had sustained multiple stab injuries and were taken to the AIIMS Trauma Centre for treatment.

Police said Arun suffered a fatal stab wound in the gluteal region and succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Shivam sustained a stab wound in the epigastric region and is currently undergoing treatment. His condition is reported to be stable.

Following the incident, multiple police teams conducted raids in the area, leading to the apprehension of four accused, all residents of Gautampuri. Two of them are juveniles aged 16, including the main accused. The other two, identified as Amar, 25, and Vicky, 31, were arrested. Police said all four are school dropouts, and two of them are unemployed.

The weapon used in the attack has been recovered. A case has been registered under Sections 103(1) for murder, 109 for attempt to murder and 3(5) for common intention of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Further investigation is under way to establish the exact sequence of events.
