New Delhi – Days after surviving an attack during a Jan Sunvai program, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta addressed her first public gathering, declaring she will neither fear nor tire until the people of Delhi secure their rightful due.
Speaking at an event organized by the Association of Wholesale Readymade Garments Dealers in Gandhi Nagar Market, Shahadra, Gupta said, “Your Chief Minister Didi will not be afraid, will not be tired, and will not lose. Till Delhi gets its rights, she will keep fighting with you. It is my vow to continuously fight with you.”
The statement came after Rajkot resident Rajesh Khimji assaulted her during the public hearing earlier this week. He was immediately detained and remanded to five-day police custody.
Gupta used the platform to emphasize her government’s commitment to transforming the Yamunapar region of Delhi. She hailed the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway as a key development milestone that would ease lives on the eastern banks of the Yamuna. She also assured citizens that the Yamuna River will be cleaned in a time-bound manner.
“A very large number of people live on this side of the Yamuna and are waiting for Mother Yamuna to be cleaned. With time, the river will appear better,” she noted.
The Chief Minister further promised extensive development measures in the region, including new water pipelines, sewer systems, multiple parking facilities, and public toilets to improve civic life.
Locals at the event welcomed her assurances, while political observers said the CM’s defiant tone following the attack underscored her intent to strengthen her grassroots connection and focus on Delhi’s underserved areas.
