Delhi: Security agencies were placed on high alert in the national capital after the Delhi Legislative Assembly and its Speaker Vijender Gupta received threatening emails warning of a possible bomb attack on the day of the Budget presentation.

According to sources, the first email was received at around 7:28 am by the Assembly, followed by another message sent at approximately 7:49 am to the Speaker’s official email account. The timing of the threats, coinciding with a key legislative event, has raised serious concerns among authorities.

The emails reportedly indicated that not only the Assembly complex but also nearby locations, including the Vidhan Sabha Metro Station, could be targeted. This prompted immediate action from law enforcement and emergency response teams.

In response, bomb disposal squads and multiple police units were deployed in and around the Assembly premises. Security measures were also tightened at several sensitive locations across Delhi as a precautionary step.

The threatening messages are said to have referenced several prominent political figures, including Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, and S. Jaishankar. The communication also mentioned Taranjit Singh Sandhu, along with Rekha Gupta and Cabinet Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa.

Officials indicated that the email contained provocative language and references to separatist sentiments, with a group identifying itself as the “Khalistani National Army” reportedly linked to the threat. However, authorities have not yet confirmed the authenticity of these claims.

Security agencies have initiated a detailed investigation to trace the origin of the emails and assess their credibility. Cyber experts are also examining the digital trail to determine whether the threats are genuine or a hoax.

Meanwhile, officials have urged the public to remain calm, assuring that all necessary precautions have been taken. The situation continues to be closely monitored as the Budget proceedings are expected to go ahead under heightened security arrangements.
