Chandigarh— The Punjab and Haryana High Court has issued an interim stay on the state government’s Land Pooling Policy, pausing its implementation until the next hearing on August 7.
The decision follows a petition filed by Advocate Gurdeep Singh Fagla, representing a group of farmers and landowners. The petition challenges the legality of the policy, arguing that it is arbitrary and runs afoul of the Land Acquisition Act of 2013.
The court’s intervention has added a new layer of uncertainty to a policy that has already sparked significant backlash from multiple quarters in Punjab. With stakeholders awaiting clarity, all eyes are now on Thursday’s hearing, which could shape the fate of the controversial initiative.
