DABWALI— Tension gripped Dabwali town in Haryana’s Sirsa district after gunshots were allegedly fired at a statue of the late Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala. The incident, which occurred earlier this week, has sparked widespread outrage, with Moosewala’s mother, Charan Kaur, expressing her deep anguish and fury on social media.

In an emotional Instagram post written in Punjabi, Charan Kaur described the act not just as vandalism but as a personal and collective wound. “This is a wound to my soul. Even after his death, his enemies are not letting him be in peace,” she wrote.

Kaur emphasized that Moosewala was more than a singer—he was a voice for justice and people’s rights. “My son was not just a singer—he was a movement. And that movement will live on. His memory will never die,” she said. She vowed that those behind the attack would eventually be brought to justice, warning, “Our silence is not our defeat.”

The controversy escalated after Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) leader Digvijay Singh Chautala reportedly received a video clip from an international number showing a masked individual firing at the statue. The video reportedly contained a chilling message, warning that supporters of Moosewala would be the next targets.

The statue, installed last year by Chautala to honour Moosewala’s legacy, has become a symbolic site for fans of the slain artist. A police case has been registered in Dabwali, and investigations are currently underway.

“We are still verifying which statue was shown in the video. The investigation is ongoing,” said Dabwali City Police Station SHO Anil Kumar, while speaking to PTI.

Sidhu Moosewala, whose real name was Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, was gunned down by gangsters on May 29, 2022, in Punjab’s Mansa district. His murder shocked the nation and ignited debates around celebrity security and gang violence in Punjab.
