Amritsar — In a major breakthrough against cross-border drug smuggling, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police have arrested the kingpin of a Pakistan-linked narcotics network and recovered 5.025 kilograms of heroin from his possession.

Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav informed that the accused, identified as Rajpal Singh, was in contact with handlers based in Pakistan. Preliminary investigation revealed that he was smuggling heroin consignments into India through the Dera Baba Nanak sector. Singh was reportedly part of an international drug syndicate operating in Punjab for a long time.

A case has been registered at the Cheharta police station in Amritsar, and further investigation is underway to trace both backward and forward linkages of the network. The police aim to dismantle every connection involved in the trafficking chain.

DGP Yadav reiterated Punjab Police’s commitment to a “zero-tolerance” policy against narcotics. “Our mission is clear — to eliminate the drug trade from its roots and make Punjab completely drug-free,” he said.

He also urged citizens to support the anti-drug campaign by reporting any suspicious activity to the police, emphasizing that a united effort is key to achieving a drug-free and safer Punjab.
