Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Monday emphasized enhanced mutual cooperation between Punjab and Argentina to make agriculture a more profitable sector.

Interacting with a delegation from Centro Agrotechnico Regional, Argentina, visiting Punjab Agriculture University from October 8 to 17, the Chief Minister highlighted the significance of agriculture in both economies. He noted that Argentina’s economy relies heavily on livestock and grain production, making it a leading global food producer, while Punjab continues to excel in modern agricultural practices.

The delegation, comprising faculty and students studying agriculture, visited to observe and learn modern farming techniques in Punjab. Mann underlined the long-term potential for bilateral collaboration, proposing annual exchange visits: Argentine students to Punjab and PAU students to Argentina to enhance skills and expertise.

“The challenges and solutions in agriculture are similar in both regions,” Mann said, expressing hope that this mutual cooperation will lead to greater profitability in the sector. He also encouraged the delegation to experience Punjab’s rich cultural heritage during their tour.

The Argentine delegation lauded the Chief Minister for the warm hospitality, describing their visit as a unique and enriching experience. The interaction was attended by PAU Vice Chancellor Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, Director Students Welfare Dr Nirmal Jaura, Associate Director Dr Vishal Bector, and HOD Resource Management and Consumer Science Dr Sharanbeer Kaur Bal, among others.
