Fatehpur Tragedy: Man Kills Wife Over Suspected Affair, Dies by Suicide

Fatehpur: A domestic dispute in Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur district turned deadly when a man allegedly shot his wife and then took his own life, police said on Sunday. The couple has been identified as Mukesh Nishad, 32, and his 26-year-old wife Gudia Devi.

The shocking incident unfolded in a village near Kanpur, leaving residents stunned and raising fresh concerns about rising cases of violence linked to marital discord.

Tensions After Return from Delhi

According to police sources, Mukesh had been working in Delhi and returned to his hometown just a week ago. After his arrival, suspicions reportedly surfaced regarding his wife’s alleged relationship with a neighbour, which quickly became a source of tension.

“Frequent arguments broke out between the couple after Mukesh returned,” a local officer said. “On Saturday night, the situation escalated. In a fit of rage, he allegedly shot Gudia and then turned the weapon on himself.”
