Amritsar: In a remarkable effort to ensure public trust and safety, the Amritsar Police traced and returned 153 lost mobile phones to their rightful owners. Alongside this, the police achieved another major breakthrough by recovering 2 luxury cars, 92 motorcycles, and 23 Activa scooters, making a total of 117 stolen vehicles seized during ongoing anti-theft operations.

The initiative was carried out under the supervision of Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar (IPS) and DCP Law & Order Alam Vijay Singh. The operation was executed across multiple sub-divisions of the Commissionerate with coordinated teamwork.

According to the police, East Division traced 50 phones, West Division 33, North Division 2, Central Division 41, and the Cyber Crime Team 27 — all successfully returned to their original owners.

Commissioner Bhullar stated that several complaints of missing mobile phones were registered at Saanjh Kendras and Cyber Crime Police Stations across Amritsar. Using advanced technical tracking, police traced the devices not only within Punjab but also from Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Delhi.

He appealed to the public to immediately report any lost phone at the nearest police station or Saanjh Kendra, and also register it on the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal, launched by the Ministry of Telecommunication. The CEIR portal helps block and trace missing devices, preventing their misuse.

In addition to mobile recoveries, the police’s ongoing crackdown on vehicle theft led to the seizure of two luxury cars (Mahindra Thar and Honda City), 92 motorcycles from various brands, and 23 Activa scooters.

Commissioner Bhullar emphasized that the police remain committed to protecting citizens’ property and maintaining law and order through strict action against criminals. The initiative not only showcases the efficiency of Amritsar Police but also strengthens public confidence in law enforcement.
