PM Modi Felicitated by NDA MPs for Operation Sindoor Amid Parliament Deadlock

New Delhi— Prime Minister Narendra Modi was felicitated by MPs of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on Tuesday during a key meeting of the parliamentary party at the Parliament Library Building. The felicitation came in the wake of the successful execution of Operation Sindoor, which, along with Operation Mahadev, drew widespread praise and chants of “Har Har Mahadev” from lawmakers present.

The event was marked by a show of solidarity among top NDA leaders, even as the Parliament remained embroiled in a prolonged deadlock. Opposition parties have refused to yield ground, demanding a comprehensive debate and withdrawal of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, alleging manipulation and exclusion.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP President JP Nadda, Union Minister Prahlad Joshi, and BJP MP and actor Kangana Ranaut were among the prominent leaders attending the meeting. The gathering was aimed at consolidating internal cohesion within the alliance and preparing for upcoming legislative battles.

However, legislative functioning in the Lok Sabha was stalled again, as protests from the opposition benches disrupted the House’s scheduled agenda. The National Sports Governance Bill, 2025, and the National Anti-Doping (Amendment) Bill, 2025, could not be taken up for discussion due to the noisy scenes and slogan-shouting.

Despite the impasse, the Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya is expected to push the bills forward. As per the List of Business released by the Lok Sabha Secretariat, Mandaviya will seek to move amendments to the National Anti-Doping Act, 2022, and present the National Sports Governance Bill, 2025 for consideration and passage.

Meanwhile, the opposition’s INDIA bloc is also stepping up its protest strategy. At 10 am, leaders of the bloc will convene a strategy meeting at the Parliament Library Building in the office of the Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha. Following that, a demonstration will be held at 10:30 am near Makar Dwar, under the slogan: “Our Vote, Our Right, Our Fight”—directly challenging the Bihar electoral roll revision exercise.

Earlier in the day, the Lok Sabha began proceedings with obituary references to former MPs Tilakdhari Prasad Singh, Ram Rati Bind, and Shibu Soren, marking a solemn start before political tempers flared.

The day’s events underscored the growing confrontation between the ruling alliance and the opposition, with both sides firm on their positions. As Operation Sindoor dominates the NDA’s narrative, the BJP is expected to double down on projecting strong leadership, even as the INDIA bloc mobilizes around issues of electoral transparency.
