JALANDHAR: In a significant victory against terrorism, the Counter Intelligence Unit of Punjab Police has successfully busted a Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terror module with links to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). The operation, which led to the seizure of 2.5 kilograms of Improvised Explosive Device (IED) material and a remote control, has been hailed as a major breakthrough in the fight against cross-border terror activities.

The terror module, operating under the guidance of UK-based handlers Nishan Jaurian and Adesh Jamarai, was reportedly directed by BKI mastermind Harwinder Singh Rinda. Punjab Police officials confirmed that two operatives, Gurjinder Singh and Diwan Singh, were arrested in Jalandhar, where the explosives were hidden. The two suspects were apprehended following a series of coordinated intelligence operations.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the seized IED and explosives were intended for a targeted attack, though authorities have not disclosed specific targets or locations. However, the prompt intervention of the Punjab Police has successfully thwarted what could have been a devastating act of terrorism in the region.

An FIR has been registered at the SSOC Police Station in Amritsar under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Explosive Substances Act. Police sources revealed that the arrested individuals were part of a larger terror network backed by Pakistani operatives, whose main objective is to destabilize peace and security in Punjab.

“This is a major achievement in our ongoing efforts to dismantle terror networks operating from across the border. The successful arrest of the operatives and seizure of dangerous explosives is a testament to the unwavering commitment of Punjab Police to safeguard the state from terrorism and organized crime,” said a senior officer involved in the operation.

The module is believed to have been operating under the orders of Harwinder Singh Rinda, a notorious figure with alleged links to ISI and various militant groups. Intelligence agencies have been closely monitoring the activities of Rinda and his associates, as they continue to attempt to revive terror operations in Punjab.

The recovery of the IED is a stark reminder of the persistent threat posed by such networks, often fueled by external forces. The Punjab Police’s Counter Intelligence Division has been actively working to neutralize these terror cells, intercepting plots before they can be executed.

“This breakthrough is a part of our continued strategy to prevent terror attacks and disrupt the operations of those who seek to create unrest in our region. Punjab Police remains committed to eliminating the threat of terrorism and ensuring that peace prevails in the state,” added the officer.

The investigation is ongoing, with authorities looking into the wider network of operatives and handlers connected to the Babbar Khalsa International terror group. Punjab Police have reiterated their resolve to fight terror and organized crime, which often operate in tandem with foreign elements seeking to destabilize the region.

This operation underscores the importance of coordinated intelligence efforts between various law enforcement agencies and highlights the persistent threats Punjab faces from both domestic and international terror networks.
