New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has written the foreword for the Indian edition of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s autobiography, titled I Am Giorgia – My Roots, My Principles, scheduled for release on October 7, 2025. In the foreword, PM Modi described the book as Meloni’s own “Mann Ki Baat,” drawing a parallel with his monthly radio address in India.

“It is not just an autobiography; it is her Mann Ki Baat,” PM Modi writes, highlighting how Meloni’s life offers insights that go beyond personal experiences to reflect broader ideals. “Over the last 11 years, I have engaged with many global leaders, each with a unique journey. Prime Minister Meloni’s life is full of such instances, making this book very special,” he adds.

Published by Rupa Publications, the autobiography provides readers a rare glimpse into the mind and leadership of one of Europe’s most dynamic political figures. PM Modi notes a strong resonance between Meloni’s journey and the concept of Nari Shakti—the divine feminine energy celebrated in Indic traditions. “She has held firm to her roots while leading her nation with confidence on the global stage, which is why her journey resonates deeply with us in India,” Modi writes.

PM Modi emphasizes the cultural and civilizational links between India and Italy. “We are bound by shared values such as respect for heritage, the strength of community, and the celebration of womanhood. These connections form the foundation of my personal friendship with Prime Minister Meloni,” he states. The foreword also reflects Modi’s belief that the book will enhance mutual understanding as India and Italy deepen their strategic partnership.

Giorgia Meloni, born in Rome in 1977, became Italy’s first woman Prime Minister after her election victory in September 2022. Her autobiography traces her journey from her childhood in the working-class neighbourhood of Garbatella to the heights of Italian and European politics, including her early struggles and the influence of her family.

The Indian edition of the book follows Meloni’s state visit to India in March 2023, during which ties between the two countries were upgraded to a Strategic Partnership. The leaders have also shared friendly interactions on social media, with #Melodi trending in 2023 after a playful reference to both leaders’ names during the COP28 meet.
