New Delhi: A self-proclaimed spiritual leader, Chaitanyananda Saraswati, who is facing serious allegations of sexual misconduct involving at least 17 women, was nabbed by Delhi Police in Agra in the early hours of Sunday.

The arrest marks a significant breakthrough in a disturbing case that has rocked a private educational institute in southwest Delhi.

Saraswati, who formerly held the position of chairman at the management institute, is accused of systematically targeting female students through late-night summons and unsolicited messages, according to the First Information Report (FIR) filed earlier this month.

Victims Allege Pattern of Abuse

Police sources revealed that several students came forward alleging that the accused would send them inappropriate messages, often at night, and demand they visit his private quarters within the campus. Some of the victims also reported being stalked digitally, with Saraswati allegedly using his mobile phone to monitor their movements.

The victims are all students of the same institute and had reportedly been dealing with the trauma in silence before one of them finally lodged a formal complaint, prompting others to speak up.

Victims Demand Justice

Meanwhile, support for the victims has been growing, with students, women’s rights groups, and activists calling for swift and strict action. A protest was held on the institute’s premises last week, demanding transparency and institutional reform.
