Mangaluru: Eleven second-year BBA students from Kerala were taken into custody in Mangaluru on Saturday for possession and alleged sale of cannabis in commercial quantities, police said.
Acting on a tip-off, Mangaluru South Police, led by PSI Sheetal Alagur, raided an apartment near Kaprigudde Mosque in Attavar on Thursday evening. All the accused were residing in the city for college studies. The raid uncovered 12.26 kg of cannabis, reportedly sourced from Odisha and divided into seven parcels.
Police said the quantity and packaging suggested an attempt to sell commercially. In addition, weighing machines worth ₹2,000 and mobile phones valued at ₹1.05 lakh were seized, bringing the total value of confiscated items to ₹3.52 lakh.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, at Mangaluru South Police Station. Authorities are continuing the investigation to identify other possible suspects and uncover the broader network behind the operation.
