Chandigarh: Punjab and Chandigarh are likely to experience a spell of morning fog over the next three days, even as dry and mostly sunny weather continues across the region. The Meteorological Department has forecast clear conditions through Diwali, with a noticeable chill during early mornings and late evenings.
On November 5, skies are expected to remain clear, with north-westerly winds bringing cooler air from the mountainous areas. The state is likely to remain rain-free for the next six days. However, the possibility of light rainfall in isolated areas may emerge after November 10.
Fog could reduce visibility in parts of Punjab during morning and night hours, with light to moderate conditions expected in some locations. Commuters, particularly those travelling early in the day, have been advised to remain cautious. Amritsar and Chandigarh had already reported fog on November 3.
Faridkot records coldest night
Night temperatures have varied across the region, with Faridkot recording the lowest minimum at 13.4°C. Mohali, meanwhile, remained relatively warmer, registering a minimum temperature of 17°C.
Other cities recorded minimum temperatures of 14.4°C in Chandigarh, 14.7°C in Ludhiana, 15°C in Patiala and 15.5°C in Amritsar. Most locations therefore saw overnight readings between 14°C and 15°C.
Day temperatures remain near seasonal levels
Despite the growing chill after sunset, daytime conditions have remained comparatively warm. The state’s average maximum temperature increased by 0.3°C, bringing readings close to the seasonal normal.
Ropar recorded the highest maximum temperature at 32.9°C. The contrast between warm afternoons and cooler mornings and nights is expected to continue in the coming days, while the forecast points to generally dry conditions across Punjab and Chandigarh until the possibility of rain develops after November 10.
