Mumbai: Bollywood actor Tusshar Kapoor has reportedly come under the radar of an extortion threat after an unidentified caller allegedly demanded Rs 5 crore from him while claiming links to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
According to Mumbai Police sources, the caller introduced himself as Harry Boxer, an alleged member of the gang, and issued the monetary demand. Following the threat, Kapoor approached the Mumbai Police and reported the matter, prompting authorities to launch an investigation.
The case was subsequently assigned to the Anti-Extortion Cell and the Crime Branch for further examination. As part of the probe, the Crime Branch’s technical team analysed the audio recording of the threatening call and compared the voice with available official audio samples attributed to Harry Boxer.
However, the forensic examination reportedly found no match between the two recordings. Senior police officials said the mismatch has raised doubts about the caller’s identity, with investigators suspecting that an individual may have impersonated a gang member to intimidate the actor and extract money.
Police are now attempting to identify the person behind the threat and trace the individual who sent the audio recording.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are examining the available technical evidence to establish who made the extortion call.
