Mumbai: The X account of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde was hacked on Sunday, with hackers posting images of the flags of Pakistan and Turkey, officials said.

The incident coincided with the day India and Pakistan were scheduled to play their second match in the Asia Cup. Hackers reportedly live-streamed images featuring the two countries’ flags on the Deputy Chief Minister’s account.

An official stated, “We immediately alerted the cyber crime police. Our team in charge of the Dy CM’s X handle later retrieved the account.”

The account was restored within 30 to 45 minutes, the official added.
