Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Counter Intelligence Wing launched a series of coordinated operations across the valley on Saturday, conducting searches at eight separate locations linked to a terror-related investigation, officials confirmed.
The targeted searches were carried out as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terror networks operating in the region, with the aim of uncovering evidence that could assist in the prosecution of suspects involved in anti-national activities. Sources within the police department stated that the operation is part of a larger crackdown on terror groups active in Jammu and Kashmir.
Authorities have yet to release further details about the specific locations that were raided or the individuals involved in the ongoing investigation. However, the operation was reportedly carried out with precision, following intelligence gathered by the Counter Intelligence Wing in recent weeks. Security forces, including personnel from the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Army, and paramilitary forces, were reportedly stationed at key points to maintain order and prevent any disturbances during the searches.
Local residents expressed a mix of concern and support as the searches unfolded, with some citing the presence of heavy security in their neighborhoods. “We understand the need for these operations, but it does cause anxiety,” said one resident of Srinagar who wished to remain anonymous.
The police have assured the public that these searches are part of a broader strategy to maintain peace and security in the region. The crackdown comes at a time of heightened vigilance in Jammu and Kashmir, where security forces have been intensifying their efforts to combat insurgent activity, particularly as tensions continue to simmer in the region.
Authorities also emphasized that those found involved in any terror-related activities will face legal action, underlining the commitment to ensuring that peace and law and order are upheld in the valley.
While the investigation is ongoing, officials have pledged to continue their vigilance and work towards dismantling any threats to the security of the region. Further updates are expected as the operation progresses.
