AMRITSAR: Security protocols across key administrative and judicial installations in Amritsar were placed on high alert on Monday following a bomb threat sent to the official email account of the Police Commissioner. In response, law enforcement personnel initiated extensive search operations covering the Police Commissioner’s office, the Deputy Commissioner’s office, the district court complex, and adjacent perimeters.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) Jugaraj Singh confirmed that the threatening email was detected on the official server on Monday morning. Emergency response teams, accompanied by the anti-sabotage unit and specialized detection squads, were immediately deployed to sanitize and inspect all targeted administrative buildings.
Following sweeping inspections, senior officials confirmed that no explosive devices or suspicious objects were recovered, noting that public movement and operations remained peaceful throughout the sanitization drive.
The DCP stated that authorities are treating the electronic communication with utmost seriousness, adding that the overall security framework across the border city is undergoing a comprehensive review under direct orders from the Police Commissioner. With the festival season underway, administrative agencies have initiated intensified surveillance measures, including frequent surprise checkpoints and enhanced patrolling across vital installations.
