Khalistani Slogans Found on Train in Amritsar; Probe Points to Bhandari Bridge Entry

Amritsar: Security agencies have been put on high alert after pro-Khalistan slogans were discovered on the Amritsar-Haridwar train and walls in parts of the city, allegedly linked to the banned outfit Sikhs for Justice (SFJ). The group’s self-styled leader, Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, has claimed responsibility for the act in a video message.

The graffiti was first noticed when the train reached Jalandhar, prompting the Government Railway Police (GRP) to register a case. Officials suspect that the miscreant who carried out the act may have slipped into the railway premises through the deserted Bhandari Bridge side. CCTV footage from the station and adjoining areas is being scanned to identify the accused.

DSP Jaskaran Singh confirmed that investigations are underway. “We are analyzing surveillance footage and questioning people near the spot. It appears the slogans were painted when the train was in motion,” he said.

Threats Issued in Video Message

In his video statement, Pannu not only admitted to the vandalism but also issued fresh threats, naming Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Punjab Congress chief Raja Warring, and MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla as “targets.” He accused them of backing those responsible for the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

Pannu further claimed that his outfit plans to enforce a “Diwali blackout,” threatening to disrupt celebrations from Ayodhya to Haridwar. According to him, Ayodhya and Diwali symbolize what he termed “Hindutva terrorism.”

Security Agencies on Alert

Police officials in both Amritsar and Jalandhar have intensified patrolling, particularly around railway stations and public buildings. The deserted stretches near Bhandari Bridge are under watch, with additional deployment of GRP and local police.

The incident has sparked concern in political and social circles, with authorities emphasizing that any attempt to disturb peace will be dealt with strictly.
