Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Central Government for increasing the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of all mandated Rabi crops for the 2027-28 marketing season. He said the decision taken by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, would prove to be a milestone in strengthening the economic condition of farmers across the country and Haryana and ensuring remunerative prices for their produce.
Nayab Singh Saini said the increase in MSP of mandated Rabi crops for the 2027-28 marketing season is in line with the historic announcement made in the Union Budget 2018-19 to fix MSP at a minimum of 1.5 times the all-India weighted average cost of production.
The Chief Minister said the expected margin over the cost of production reflects the government’s unwavering commitment to farmers’ welfare. Under the new MSP rates, farmers will receive a margin of 106 per cent over the all-India weighted average cost of production for wheat, 96 per cent for rapeseed and mustard, 92 per cent for lentil, 59 per cent for gram, 58 per cent for barley and 50 per cent for safflower.
