Barnala: Barnala Police have arrested Saudagar Singh, father of Shaganpreet Singh and former manager of late Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, in connection with the shooting outside Punjabi singer Gulab Sidhu’s ancestral home.
Saudagar Singh was taken into custody in Khanna when he appeared before a court in connection with a separate firing case involving Prem Vaishno Dhaba. Police informed the Khanna City Police Station through a Daily Diary Report and subsequently began questioning him in the Barnala case.
The arrest comes as investigators continue to probe the alleged conspiracy behind the firing at Gulab Sidhu’s residence in Farwahi village. The incident took place during the early hours of September 13, when armed men allegedly arrived on a motorcycle and opened fire at the house.
According to the police account, two of the men fired shots while another person recorded a video of the group approaching the residence. Gulab Sidhu was not at home when the incident occurred.
Police have previously arrested three suspects in connection with the case. Investigators have identified Balwinder Singh alias Kinda, sarpanch of Kotduna village, as an alleged key conspirator.
The investigation has also examined a possible dispute over Gulab Sidhu’s song Sarpanchi. Police allege that Kinda had objected to the song and had issued threats against the singer through social media.
Investigators suspect that the accused were allegedly planning an attack around one of Gulab Sidhu’s live performances and intended to create fear before demanding money. The claims form part of the ongoing investigation and will be subject to further legal proceedings.
The case has attracted considerable attention because of Gulab Sidhu’s association with the late Sidhu Moosewala. Following Moosewala’s killing in May 2022, security arrangements for several Punjabi singers were reviewed amid concerns over threats and extortion.
Police have also provided Gulab Sidhu with two security personnel after receiving information regarding alleged threats to the singer.
Meanwhile, Saudagar Singh’s questioning is expected to help investigators establish whether he had any role in the alleged conspiracy and determine the wider connections, if any, behind the shooting.
