Jamshedpur: Four people, including the daughter of Jharkhand Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Dipika Pandey Singh, were killed after their car collided with a stationary truck in Jamshedpur in the early hours of Thursday, police said.
The deceased minister’s daughter has been identified as Trisha Singh. The other three victims were identified as Sarthak Agarwal, Naman Gupta and Vanshika Khandelwal.
The accident took place on Marine Drive Road in the Sonari police station area of Jamshedpur.
Four Killed On The Spot In Jamshedpur Accident
Sonari police station officer-in-charge Sanjay Suman confirmed that four people died in the accident.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Manoj Thakur said all four occupants of the car died at the spot following the collision.
The impact of the crash left the car severely damaged, with visuals from the accident site showing the vehicle lodged behind the stationary truck.
Truck Was Parked Near Divider, Police Probe Underway
According to visuals from the scene, the truck appeared to have been parked on the right side of the four-lane road near the divider. A small tree branch was reportedly placed at the rear of the truck, suggesting that the vehicle had broken down and could not be moved.
However, no reflector signage was visible on the stretch of road around the stationary vehicle in the visuals.
Police are investigating the circumstances that led to the collision, including the condition and positioning of the truck and the circumstances in which the car crashed into it.
Jharkhand Leaders Condole Trisha Singh’s Death
Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar expressed condolences over the deaths, describing Trisha Singh’s demise as deeply distressing.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren also condoled the deaths of Trisha Singh and the other victims. He expressed his condolences to Minister Dipika Pandey Singh and the families of those who died in the crash.
BJP leader and former Jharkhand chief minister Champai Soren also expressed grief over Trisha Singh’s death and described the incident as heartbreaking.
The accident has left the families of all four victims mourning the sudden loss, while authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
