Chandigarh: As per the notification issued by the Haryana Urban Local Bodies Department on September 1, 2026, the new system of property taxation and rates has been implemented with effect from August 1, 2026. Under the new system, property owners and occupiers have been given the option to pay property tax as per the rates prescribed under the old notification of 2013 for a period of two months from August 1, 2026.
Giving information in this regard, a spokesperson of the Department said that after the prescribed two-month period, all property owners and occupiers will be required to pay property tax only in accordance with the new notification.
The spokesperson said that from the financial year 2026-27 onwards, property tax for all properties will be assessed in accordance with the new notification. All taxpayers have been urged to avail themselves of the prescribed period provided by the Government and deposit their property tax at the old rates within this period.
