Uttar Pradesh: Two alleged shooters linked to the murder of Haryanvi singer Ankit Baliyan were killed in an encounter with the Uttar Pradesh Police Special Task Force (STF), officials said.
The deceased have been identified as Sumit and Mohit. Investigators suspect that the duo were part of a four-member group allegedly involved in carrying out the shooting that claimed Baliyan’s life.
The encounter marks a significant development in the investigation into the singer’s murder, with the police continuing to trace the wider network allegedly behind the attack.
Six people under scanner
According to investigators, the probe has so far identified six individuals who are allegedly connected to the case. Of these, four are suspected to have directly participated in the shooting, while two others allegedly conducted reconnaissance of the area before the attack.
The role of each accused is being examined as part of the ongoing investigation.
With two of the alleged shooters now dead, investigators are expected to focus on establishing the complete sequence of events surrounding Baliyan’s killing and identifying those who may have planned or facilitated the attack.
The latest development comes as police continue their efforts to uncover the broader conspiracy behind the murder and determine the involvement of the remaining suspects.
