Chamoli: Traffic on the Badrinath National Highway has come to a complete halt near Joshimath after a section of the road was washed away, disrupting movement along the important route in Uttarakhand.
The affected stretch lies ahead of the Joshimath–Marwari Bridge. Following the damage, authorities have stopped vehicular movement in both directions as the road is currently considered impassable.
The washout has created a major disruption for commuters and vehicles travelling towards Badrinath and Joshimath. With the damaged portion cutting off the roadway, traffic cannot pass through the affected stretch until restoration work is completed.
The incident comes as Uttarakhand continues to remain vulnerable to road damage caused by heavy rainfall, landslides and swollen water channels during the monsoon season. Mountain highways in the state frequently face disruptions when roads are weakened or sections are washed away.
Officials are expected to assess the extent of the damage and undertake necessary restoration measures to reopen the route. Until then, motorists have been advised to remain cautious and follow directions issued by local authorities.
