Jammu and Kashmir: Security forces stepped up search operations across parts of Udhampur, Reasi and Kathua districts on Tuesday following reports of suspicious movement in the areas, officials said.
The latest searches were launched after information was received about two unidentified persons who were reportedly seen moving through Talot village in Udhampur late Monday night.
According to officials, the two suspected individuals allegedly approached the residence of Prakash Chand and knocked on the door, asking for food. The occupants reportedly did not respond despite repeated knocking. The men, who were said to be wearing shawls, subsequently moved away from the area towards the Khuban side.
The incident was reported to the security agencies, following which police and CRPF personnel reached the village and began a cordon-and-search operation. Security teams are checking the surrounding areas as part of the operation, officials said.
Searches have also been extended to other locations following similar reports. In Reasi district, security personnel carried out an operation in the Sadini forest area, while in Kathua, teams searched multiple villages close to the International Border in the Hiranagar sector.
Officials said the operations are continuing in areas where information about suspicious movement has been received. Security personnel are maintaining heightened vigilance while searches are being conducted to determine whether the reported movement was linked to any security threat.
Further details are awaited as the operations remain underway.
