Shimla: Monsoon activity continues to remain strong across Himachal Pradesh, with widespread rainfall expected in the state on Sunday. The Meteorological Department has warned that some areas could receive heavy to very heavy showers, increasing the possibility of landslides and temporary disruptions on roads.
Mandi is among the districts likely to see intense rainfall at isolated places. Weather activity is also expected to increase across Chamba and Kangra in the coming days, prompting authorities to advise residents and travellers to exercise caution.
Mandi among areas under watch
Most parts of Himachal are expected to receive light to moderate rain, while isolated pockets could witness much heavier showers. In Mandi, the forecast points to the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall in some areas.
The combination of persistent rain and unstable slopes could create problems for commuters, particularly along vulnerable hill roads. Landslides and falling debris remain a concern in susceptible locations.
Residents near water bodies urged to stay alert
The weather department has advised people to avoid venturing close to rivers, streams and ravines during periods of heavy rain. Residents in landslide-prone areas have also been asked to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel whenever weather conditions deteriorate.
Travellers have been particularly advised to check road conditions before setting out, as heavy showers can result in sudden blockages and reduced visibility.
Una records highest temperature
Despite the continuing monsoon activity, temperatures remained relatively high in parts of the state. Una recorded the highest maximum temperature at 35.2°C during the past 24 hours.
Mandi recorded a maximum of 32.4°C, while Sundernagar registered 33.5°C. Bilaspur recorded 33°C and Kangra 32.7°C.
With another spell of rainfall expected over the next few days, the focus remains on areas vulnerable to landslides, flash runoff and road disruptions. Authorities have urged people to follow weather advisories and exercise extra caution during heavy downpours.
