Amritsar: A firing incident has been reported outside the Amritsar residence of former Sri Akal Takht Sahib Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh, creating widespread concern and security apprehensions in the local area.
According to available information, unidentified individuals allegedly discharged firearms near the residence on the night of August 12. The occurrence came to light after family members discovered a bullet mark on a vehicle parked outside the premises, following which a spent cartridge was also recovered from the scene.
Security personnel and police officials arrived at the location shortly after being alerted to initiate a formal inquiry. While the suspects could not be visually identified with clarity from initial surveillance reviews, security cameras in the vicinity reportedly captured the audio of gunshots. Investigators are currently scrutinizing CCTV footage from surrounding lanes and conducting forensic evaluations of the recovered ammunition to establish the timeline and trace the culprits. Giani Raghbir Singh previously served as the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib before completing his tenure in 2025.
