New Delhi: Security agencies in the national capital were placed on high alert on Friday after the Delhi High Court, Terminal 3 of the Indira Gandhi International Airport, and several government offices received bomb threats via email ahead of Independence Day celebrations. Following extensive anti-sabotage sweeps and security protocols conducted across all targeted premises, Delhi Police confirmed that no suspicious items were discovered and officially declared the threats to be hoaxes.
According to police sources, a series of alerts were received by the Fire Control Room within a short window during the morning hours. The communications targeted multiple key administrative and transport hubs, including the Delhi Cantonment Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) office, Terminal 3 of the airport, Jamnagar House, the Saket SDM office, and a location in Jhandewalan. The threat email sent to the Delhi High Court warned of a planned blast scheduled for the afternoon, prompting court authorities to coordinate immediately with law enforcement.
Specialized response units comprising the Delhi Police, bomb disposal squads, sniffer dog units, and the fire brigade were deployed to each location to carry out thorough sanitization and inspection procedures. With the capital already under heightened security arrangements for the upcoming national celebrations, multi-agency teams reinforced perimeter monitoring while cyber crime investigators launched an inquiry to trace the origin of the threatening emails.
