PM Modi Announces Rs 1,200 Crore Relief Package for Uttarakhand Amid Floods and Landslides

Dehradun– Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Dehradun on Thursday to review the disaster situation in Uttarakhand and announced an immediate relief package of Rs 1,200 crore for the flood- and landslide-affected state.

According to the Uttarakhand Chief Minister’s Office, the Prime Minister expressed condolences to families who lost their loved ones in the recent calamities. Ex-gratia compensation of Rs 2 lakh will be provided to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured. Children orphaned due to the disaster will receive comprehensive support under the PM CARES for Children initiative.

During his visit, PM Modi met affected families and commended the efforts of NDRF, SDRF, and disaster relief volunteers. He also announced a special project under the PM Awas Yojana to reconstruct houses damaged by the floods and landslides.

The Prime Minister assured that the Centre will extend full support for rebuilding essential infrastructure, including roads, schools, and other public facilities. Central teams are conducting on-ground assessments of the damage, with additional assistance to be provided based on their findings.

“The entire nation stands firmly with Uttarakhand in this hour of crisis,” the Prime Minister said, reaffirming the Centre’s commitment to supporting recovery and rehabilitation efforts.
