Karisma Kapoor’s Children Move Delhi HC Over Share in Sunjay Kapur’s Multi-Billion Estate

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court heard a plea filed by Bollywood actor Karisma Kapoor’s children, Samaira and Kiaan, seeking their rightful share in the vast estate of their late father, industrialist Sunjay Kapur, valued at nearly Rs 30,000 crore.

Represented by Senior Advocate Mahesh Jethmalani, the siblings have challenged the authenticity of a will purportedly left behind by Kapur. “The suit will now be registered. Certain disclosures about personal assets still need to be made. The matter has been scheduled for October 9,” Jethmalani told the court.

Sunjay Kapur, former chairman of automotive giant Sona Comstar, passed away suddenly on June 12, 2025, while playing polo in Windsor, UK. At the time of his death, he was married to Priya Sachdev (now Priya Kapur), with whom he had one son. His earlier marriage with Karisma Kapoor produced two children, Samaira and Kiaan.

In their petition, the children alleged that their stepmother, Priya, along with two associates — Dinesh Agarwal and Nitin Sharma — conspired to suppress Kapur’s actual intentions by withholding his alleged will for over seven weeks, before producing it during a family gathering on July 30, 2025.

“The document being circulated as his will is neither original nor legally valid. It is surrounded by suspicious circumstances and appears to be forged,” the plea states. The plaintiffs further claimed that no copy or original of the disputed will has been shown to them.

The siblings have urged the court to recognize them as Class I legal heirs and demanded partition of the estate, seeking a one-fifth share each. They also pointed out that Kapur maintained close ties with them until his passing, often including them in family holidays, travel, and even aspects of his business life.

The case has now set the stage for a high-profile inheritance battle that could see one of India’s most prominent business legacies tied up in a prolonged legal dispute.
